23 June 2014: Congress designated the month of June “National Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder Awareness Month.” In 2010, it had previously designated June 27 PTSD Awareness Day (S. Res. 455). Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is a mental health problem that can occur after someone goes through a traumatic event like war, assault, an accident, or a disaster.
