This Day in Military History

10 June 1999: President Bill Clinton ordered an end to Operation Allied Force (or Operation Noble Anvil), the U.S.-led NATO bombing campaign against Serbia, after Serb forces agreed to withdraw from Kosovo. American troops joined a 50,000-man peacekeeping force to enforce the agreement. The bombing campaign had begun on March 24, a response to Serbian aggression in Kosovo and Albania and reports of ethnic cleansing.
